From the Desk of Tim McManamon: Relationships are Everything in Logistics
What I’ve learned in over 25 years in the logistics industry can be distilled into one simple, powerful truth: Relationships are everything.
Recently, I was reminded of this truth at a fundraiser for a long-time independent driver who was seriously injured in a horrific traffic accident. This event brought together carriers and clients—for years, people I’ve often only spoken to on the phone. The event allowed us to finally put faces to names. It was incredibly cool to introduce my colleagues and family to them, to hear about their lives and adventures, just as they’ve heard about ours. For an industry that has been so reliant on remote, “tella-connected” communication for so long, the personal connection was invaluable.
Connecting with everyone truly underscored for me how vital these long-standing relationships are to the success of our business at RCT Logistics. When we formed this company, we deliberately built into our mission the principle that our relationships will drive our daily mission.
We strive to instill in every member of our team that our clients and carriers are much more than just a business transaction. They are partners. We encourage our team to form truly compassionate, long-term relationships with everyone they work with.
